What are community conversations?
The Boulder Valley Comprehensive guides how our community will look and feel, the mobility networks that connect us and how we approach changes to our natural and built environments for years to come. The city and county are gathering input on Plan updates from community members through different events, including community conversations. By holding community conversation sessions in homes and other community spaces across the city, we can make this process accessible to more people. The sessions will be on August 19th from 6 - 8:30 pm. (Details on support provided below!)
Why host?
By hosting a community conversation, whether at your home or in a community space like a library, you are helping more people have their voices heard!
What are my responsibilities as a host?
As a host, you determine the location, organize refreshments (can be pot luck style!) and invite people. You can host at your home or a community space. Your event can be public (advertised on our website to people looking for an event) or private (for only people you directly invite).
What support will I receive?
You will receive a host guide and agenda. We will host two information sessions to prepare potential hosts. On them, we’ll go over everything and answer your questions. To RSVP for the session that works best for your schedule, please fill out the form below. Under "choose shift" check the box next to the date and time for the Zoom session you'd like to attend: July 31 or August 8. The August 8 session will include Spanish language interpretation. On the day of the event, YOUnify staff will join your event via Zoom to help lead it remotely. In the weeks leading up to the event YOUnify staff will hold office hours on Zoom for tech and other support.
Why attend?
If hosting isn’t for you, we hope you’ll attend an event so that your voice can be heard! You will also get to meet and enjoy time with other neighbors. At YOUnify we believe making policy should be FUN! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to have fun while making an impact on the policies that affect you and your community!
THERE IS NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE OR PRE-READING REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT. However, for those who are curious, below are some resources that the city is providing the public which you can browse through.
